The August calendar in Chesterfield reads like a placeholder. Kids are staging their last stand against the school year, the pool is a low-effort default, and the mall site off Clarkson is still, technically, a dirt lot.
Look closer. Between Central Park, Faust Park, The Factory, and one very specific ice cream counter on Chesterfield Airport Road, the last four weeks of summer are doing more civic work than the entire spring did. Here is what actually deserves a slot on the calendar.
The Chesterfield Amphitheater at 631 Veteran's Place Drive is a strange, wonderful venue. It features 304 fixed seats and both terraced areas with 18' high knee walls and open lawn areas for guests to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy the performance. That's it. No bad sightline, no upsell club level, no parking helicopter.
August leans hard into tribute acts, which is either a bug or a feature depending on how you feel about hearing "Ramblin' Man" outdoors on a Friday. The dated highlights:
The two free nights are the tell. If you've never done the amphitheater as a walk-up, Aug 14 and Aug 22 are the low-friction entry points. Blanket, chair, whatever's left in the cooler. You'll be home in time to argue about the thermostat.
The Faust Park summer concert series runs Tuesday evenings, but the wind-down is odd this year. Aug 4 has no concert, and the series closes with Hulapoppers on Aug 11. If you were planning to catch a set the first week of August out of habit, don't. Move it a week.
Faust itself is doing more than the concert, though. The park hosts the Missouri Botanical Garden's Butterfly House, Faust Historical Village, the Thornhill Mansion, and the 1920 St. Louis Carousel, and runs history tours through the historical village. Free history-village tours are running mid-August at noon on the 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th, which is a genuinely underrated way to burn a Saturday hour if your guests from out of town are bored of the Arch.
For the parents doing this math in their heads: the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is running Little Bugs sessions on Aug 10, 11, and 23. It's an extension of the Missouri Botanical Garden with a tropical conservatory holding more than a thousand free-flight butterflies of 60 species, kept warm as a butterfly habitat. City and county residents get free admission the first Tuesday of every month during the first two hours, with proof of residency required. That's Aug 4. Set a reminder.
This is the part locals under-index on. The Factory, over in the Chesterfield Blue Valley development, is running arena-caliber bookings in a room that seats a fraction of an arena. In August alone:
The Eden Muñoz and Jesse and Joy back-to-back is the interesting one. Two of the biggest regional Mexican and Latin pop bookings in the metro this month are landing six days apart in Chesterfield, not on the riverfront. Here is the small, specific thing worth knowing. Dumont Creamery & Café opened its first St. Louis location at 17408 Chesterfield Airport on June 21, 2026. First location in the metro, not the tenth. That address puts it a straight shot from the Valley shopping district, which means it now sits on the natural after-dinner route for anyone eating out at Wildhorse or the Boardwalk.
Two months in is exactly the window where a new spot is either finding its rhythm or losing its opening-week line. August is when you find out which one Dumont is, and it's worth doing that homework before the fall school-pickup crowd claims it as their default.
Drive past the old mall site and you'll see graders and pipe. That's not stalling. That's the plan.
Downtown Chesterfield is in its next phase of construction with utility work and site grading, the second stage of a $2 billion multi-phase redevelopment of the former Chesterfield Mall site. The mall's buildings have been fully demolished except for Dillard's and Macy's, which will be reused as part of the project. The city began mapping sewer, gas, and water lines across the property in May, leaning into turning the vacant expanse into a walkable, mixed-use Downtown Chesterfield.
The timeline worth committing to memory: by fall 2026, developer Michael Staenberg has said the site will be completely graded, with the park "not activated, but pretty much done, with sidewalks, bike paths, street lighting, signage." At full build-out, the project will feature up to 2,363 residential units, ground-floor retail, a renovated Macy's building, and a modernized Dillard's store reopening in late 2026.
Translation: August is the last summer where the site reads as "empty." By the time next August rolls around, you should be able to drive the internal street grid, and Dillard's should be lit up for the holiday season. Whatever you think about how the mall's death was handled, the ambient experience of driving Clarkson at Chesterfield Parkway is about to change.

None of those are lifestyle marketing. They're evidence that the civic center of gravity in west county is moving toward a walkable-ish, event-forward version of itself, and August is the month where you can see all of the pieces at once without a crowd getting in the way.

If you want the version you'll tell people about later: Eden Muñoz on the 15th, Three Dog Night on the 20th, Jesse and Joy on the 21st, and a Saturday history-village tour on the 22nd or 23rd. Either version ends better than "we should have done more this summer."
